Sherkin Island Yoga Retreat May 15th -19th 2009
About Sherkin Island Yoga and meditation Retreats
Sherkin Island is one of the few remote Islands of the shores of West Cork in Southern Ireland. Yoga retreats started back here in May 2006 with Aoife Kelly and Emily Gilchrist. These retreats have been thought of to enable clients and anyone else who holds an interest in yoga , from beginners to advanced both a suitable and affordable break away in order to recharge and rejuvenate through the practice of Yoga, meditation ,walks and massages.
Sherkin Island gives you the ideal opportunity to detach yourself from all the stress and distractions from the outside world and is the perfect place to find peace and quiet not to mention the breathtaking views and clean fresh air. With not a single a shop to be seen on the island it really is a rare opportunity to soak yourself in the untouched beauty of nature. The island, just three miles long and one mile wide, has a unique beauty and variety of landscape both tranquil and exhilarating. There are a choice of sandy beaches - Trabawn, Cow Strand or the largest, Silver Strand, all offering the perfect spot for a silent meditation and are safe to bath in.
The three day weekend has been carefully put together with a tight schedule of early morning and evening practice of Yoga, pranayama (breath control)and meditation. The classes are divided into two groups so that students can select which one they would like to attend according to their ability.
Entertainment is also provided in the evening by local musicians to give a taste of the true Irish culture, with singing and story telling, this enables the group to get together and interact with others on the course, many students have even surprised us with their hidden talents in the past so don't forget your instruments if you can play! of course this is optional.
Massage therapists are also on sight throughout the weekend so you can take true advantage of indulging in well- being.
The food is all cooked fresh by local Irish cooks and they are able to offer an extensive menu for vegetarians along with fish options if required and you are always guarantee service with a friendly smile.
What does the price of the holiday include?
The price includes all Yoga classes, breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks (not drinks from the bar tthough!)
Dates of future courses will always be updated so please froward us your details if you would like to receive our news letters.
